LANDMARK FRIENDS

The rich history of SLT&CC is preserved through the efforts of our Landmark Friends Committee. This Committee was established in the 1980s under the leadership of Mary Lou Strong, a long-time member whose passion for SLT&CC history was a driving force in ensuring the documentation of the club’s contribution to the game of tennis and the preservation of our historic Clubhouse. One of the Committee’s first projects was the restoration and display of the Club’s photo collection.

This entailed professional scanning and retouching of hundreds of photos, reprinting the digital images and then framing to preserve both the photos and information contained. Additional projects included repairing the historic windows, furniture, and plaques in the clubhouse, as well as storing and displaying the historic trophies of club tournaments, including The Prentice and Seabright Cups.

The Committee is now focused on the preservation of the Clubhouse building itself, and in conjunction with the Board of Governors, has undertaken the renovation of the structure. The Landmark Friends Committee is a 501c3 organization and its efforts are funded through the generous donations of friends and members of SLT&CC.
